    Digital SLR help

After a lot of thought we are upgrading to a digital SLR.

Have been looking at the Nikon D50 - anyone got one? Any comments?

I've never had a Nikon before, our old SLR from our pre digi days was a cannon. I was very happy with it but it would be a lot more for a cannon digi slr and the lens dh wants.

I have a nikon automaitc zoom camera and I love it!

Am looking to get an SLR myself and was torn between the canon and nikon. I tried them both out and I have diddy hands and the nikon it too wide/much of a stretch for me to feel comforatble.

Soooooo when I can afford one I am going to get the Canon as it is that bit slimmer. But have heard excellent reports on that too!

I have the Canon EOS D300 and it is fabulous. you can use any canon eos lenses with it. I had problems using a Sigma lens which fit my film canon eos but would lock up the 'shutter' on the digital slr. They may have fixed the problem since I got my camera (Christmas 2004) though.

I know - but my 'big' lens from my film canon was having some problem when I last used it and I think its going to be not worth fixing.
